Abraham: The Seventh Beggar

Sanford Pinsker wrote a review at Jewish.com of The Seventh Beggar by Pearl Abraham. According to the review the book mixes Rabbi Nachman of Bratslav, one of my a favorite Hassidic masters and life in contemporary US. It means I will hvae to add it to my reading list soon. Till then I cannot even guess how accurate the review is.

Waxman tour

Bob Waxman, the author of Kabbalah Simply Stated issued a press release: ” Announces His New Schedule of Kabbalah Educational Events”. However the events are not listed in the press release itself. It took a bit of thinking to find them on his poorly designed website, but then the state was not listed. It looks to me that he is doin a small circle in his neighborhood only. None of this means anything of course on the quality of his work, which I am not familiar with. Yet.

Halevi: Astrology and Kabbalah

A ‘grad student’ created a new Kabbalah list on Amazon and that prompted me to realize that Z’Ev Ben Shimon Halevi’s The Anatomy of Fate: Astrology and Kabbalah long out of print (since 1978) book has been reissued in the US 10 years ago. It is still too technical for me though, as I am not interested in Astrology per se.

Rabbi Laibl Wolf in Milford

Here is an article describing a Shabbaton, led by Rabbi Laibl Wolf, the author of Practical Kabbalah. I think it’s great that Chabad is organizing this event for the much freer spirited Australian teacher. I am a bit behind reading my Kabbalah books, but heard good things about his.

Sasson: A Wish Can Change Your Life

The Portland Tribune has an interviewisharticle with Gahl Sasson on his new book: “A Wish Can Change Your Life: How to Use the Ancient Wisdom of Kabbalah to Make Your Dreams Come True.” The article doesn’t provide any earthshattering insights. Neither do the Amazon reviews and descriptions. The former does lash out againt the LA base Kabbalah Center and I suspect the authors, also from LA have an antagonistic relationships with them. The focus is on non-materialistic process through arboric symbolism. Celebrity’s donations are praised as it helps their karma.
